Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2012 (Xbox 360, 2011)

Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2012 on Xbox 360 is that game where the Kinect ruthlessly tracks every squat and lunge while you question all your life choices
that led to burpees at home. Released in 2011 by Ubisoft exclusively for Kinect, it’s a full-body fitness title that ditches controllers and has you punch, jump,
stretch, and pose while an on-screen trainer politely bullies you into being less out of breath.

Instead of being just a rhythm game with push-ups slapped on top, this one’s built around structured workout programs. You get targeted routines for
cardio, strength, toning, yoga, and “please make my legs work again” stretching, plus goal-based plans like losing weight or staying active a few days a week.
Kinect scans your body, tracks limb placement, counts reps, and calls you out when your form looks more like “dying fish” than “proper lunge.”

There’s a big focus on variety. You can jump into preset 2–12 week programs, pick short “on-demand” workouts when you just want a 10–20 minute session,
or mess around with mini-games like wall-breaking, stomping, and cardio boxing for something more arcadey. The idea is: no excuses. Got ten minutes? Cool,
the game will absolutely find a way to make you sweat in ten minutes.

Progress tracking is baked in. The game logs calories burned (estimate, but still), time spent, and workout history, and it will happily remind you that
you haven’t moved in three days if you fall off. You can also focus on specific body areas—upper body, core, lower body—so if you just want to nuke your abs
and pretend leg day doesn’t exist, it will let you make that mistake.

On Xbox 360 today, Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2012 is functionally an offline Kinect workout game. It originally tied into Ubisoft’s online services and
Xbox Live for leaderboards and extra tracking, but even without those, the main workouts, programs, and mini-games all run straight off the disc with just
a 360 and a working Kinect sensor.

  1. Designed from the ground up for Kinect: full-body tracking with no controller, so punches, squats, kicks, lunges, and stretches are all read directly from your movement (and judged accordingly).
  2. Includes structured multi-week training plans alongside quick one-off sessions, covering cardio, toning, strength, yoga, and stretching so you’re not stuck doing the same routine every day.
  3. Features fitness mini-games and more “fun” modes like boxing-style cardio, object-smashing, and step-based challenges for players who want movement without a super serious gym vibe.
  4. Tracks estimated calories burned, workout duration, and history so you can actually see improvement instead of just feeling mysteriously more sore each week.
  5. Originally supported online connectivity and leaderboards via Xbox Live and Ubisoft’s services, but all core workouts are fully usable offline with just the disc, a Kinect, and enough floor space to suffer safely.
