Triple Play Baseball (PlayStation 2, 2001) No Manual, Very Good
Triple Play Baseball on PlayStation 2 was EA Sports’ last big swing before the MVP Baseball era, and man, it’s pure early-2000s sports game chaos. The graphics were crisper than anything from the PS1 days, the commentary came with that over-the-top “sports radio” energy, and the home run animations? Absolute fireworks. Literally.
This was the game where you could either play a serious season or just load up an exhibition and try to blast 500-foot bombs into oblivion. The controls were fast, the batting felt satisfying, and the pitching gave you just enough strategy to keep things interesting—without slowing the game down to a crawl. It’s baseball without all the modern-day stat spreadsheets and microtransactions—just you, the bat, and a dream of smacking dingers all day.
If you’re building your PS2 sports lineup or just craving some arcade-style baseball mayhem, Triple Play Baseball is a clutch pickup. Buy retro games on Retro Games eXchange and bring back that old-school, no-DLC-required baseball fun.
