BioShock Infinite (PlayStation 3, 2013) CIB, Very Good
BioShock Infinite on PlayStation 3 takes the already twisted BioShock formula and launches it into the clouds — literally. Released in 2013 by Irrational Games and 2K, this first-person shooter swaps the underwater nightmare of Rapture for the floating city of Columbia, where American exceptionalism has gone full cult-mode and everyone’s ready to kill you with patriotism and a skyhook.
You play as Booker DeWitt, a disgraced Pinkerton sent to “bring us the girl and wipe away the debt.” The girl is Elizabeth — part Disney princess, part reality-bending nuclear bomb — and the story you’re about to unravel makes Inception look like a bedtime story. Combat is brutal and fast-paced, mixing traditional gunplay with wild Vigors (read: magical chaos), and the skyline rail system makes every fight feel like a rollercoaster strapped to a gunfight.
