Our Vision
We understand how deeply rooted video games have been in our culture, especially growing up in an era that was defined by big leaps and bounds in technology. Being able to see how old 8 and 16-bit consoles got to where they are today is something to marvel at. We do not only want to provide a place for gamers and stores to connect but to preserve a big part of history and the cultural phenomenon that is gaming.
Our Experience
We used to sell on eBay and Amazon but had many issues with both. First of all, with Amazon, the fees were too high and because of how restrictive they were with their own marketplace. On top of the inability to make many sales unless you send your products FBA as well as their monthly fees. You also have higher fees if you use the free version and are limited to only 40 items per month. When it comes to eBay, we were doing really well selling there but things changed when they introduced promoted listings. The way that it works is that you have a set amount in commission that goes to eBay which is fine but then they started asking for more to promote your products. There was an option to give an extra percentage to them on your sale and they would promote your listing based on how much that would be. many people don’t go past the top results so it made it impossible to show your products. Our impressions and sales volume dropped by more than 80% and when we called to complain they gave us what was essentially a trial for promoted listings. We decided to give them a little, it worked for a short time but then our sales dropped yet again. They wanted more but at that point we were fed up. We decided to try a different approach and this website is the result. We want to be a fair marketplace regardless of who has the most money or how big their store is.
How We Are Different
Our focus is to do what’s best for our customers and employees. When big companies try to implement predatory practices, we don’t like that and neither does the consumer. We want to be the one place that everyone remembers and where everyone goes when they want to buy video games or anything else related to them. We also give tools to allow our sellers and game stores to deliver their products locally and gives the customers that ability to search and shop by location first in case a store or user near them has what they want. No everyone has to give their location but it is just an extra tool to give value to the customer and the seller alike.
