Star Ocean Till the End of Time (PlayStation 2, 2004) CIB, Very Good
Star Ocean: Till the End of Time for the PlayStation 2 released in 2004 and immediately reminded RPG fans that Square Enix apparently believes “casual storytelling” should include galaxy-spanning wars, philosophical existential crises, and enough plot twists to make your brain overheat like a launch-model PS2. Developed by tri-Ace and published by Square Enix, this sci-fi action RPG became one of the biggest cult favorites on the system.
Players control Fayt Leingod as he gets dragged into an interstellar conflict involving advanced civilizations, ancient powers, and one of the most infamous late-game reveals in RPG history. The real-time combat system keeps battles fast and chaotic while the massive crafting systems, optional dungeons, and character customization can absolutely consume your free time like a black hole wearing anime armor.
Star Ocean: Till the End of Time is still considered one of the standout RPGs on the PlayStation 2 thanks to its huge scope, deep gameplay systems, and wonderfully unhinged sci-fi storytelling. Buy retro games on Retro Games eXchange.
